Peter Kronreif - Wayfarers

Der soeben in Österreich mit dem Hans-Koller-Preis als „Sideman of the Year 2009“ ausgezeichnete Schlagzeuger Peter Kronreif zeigt mit seinem neuen Projekt Wayfarers, dass auch als Bandleader mit ihm zu rechnen ist. Das Quintett hat sich in New York gefunden und besteht aus jungen aufstrebenden Musikern der dortigen Jazzszene. Obwohl sich alle noch in ihren Zwanzigern befinden, sind die Fünf musikalisch schon mit allen Wassern gewaschen und standen bereits mit Künstlern wie Kurt Rosenwinkel, Joe Lovano, Kenny Barron oder John Faddis auf der Bühne.
Neben Kompositionen von Peter Kronreif bringen auch andere Bandmitglieder ihre Stücke ein, die das Programm prägend mitgestalten - Kompositionen von Song-ähnlichem Charakter bis zu modernem New-York-Jazz finden sich zu einem homogenen Ganzen.
Die Debut-CD „Gloaming“ ist bereits in Produktion, die Veröffentlichung für März 2010 geplant.

Saxophonist Andrew Gould -
grew up in Long Island, New York. He is currently pursuing his Masters Degree in Jazz Performance at Manhattan School of Music and holds a Bachelors Degree from Purchase College where he received the James Moody Scholarship. He has studied with George Garzone, Steve Wilson, Jon Gordon, Jimmy Greene, Dave Brandom, Dave Pietro, Gary Smulyan, and Javon Jackson.
Andrew has performed onstage with James Moody, Kenny Barron, Paquito D'Rivera, Jon Faddis, John Riley, Ray Vega, Todd Coolman, Renee Rosnes and many others. He has played venues such as Alice Tully Hall-Lincoln Center, Blue Note (NYC), Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, Smoke Jazz Club, Smalls, Yoshis (San Fransisco), B.B. Kings, Joes Pub, The Bitter End, and Live on WBGO Radio.
Andrew has recently participated to the Generations Jazz Competition/Workshop and the Steans Institute for Jazz. He continues to play various gigs around New York as well as teach private saxophone lessons and has been on faculty at both the Purchase College and Friends of the Arts Summer Jazz Programs as a teacher/counselor.

Mike Rivett -
is a New York-based, Australian-born tenor saxophonist and electronic music producer. He has worked extensively in Australia, Japan and the USA - both as a leader and a sideman. Prior to living in New York City, Mike was based in Tokyo, where he performed with many of Japan’s greatest musicians- Yoshio “Chin” Suzuki, Tomonao Hara and Haruhiko Takauchi - to name a few.
He is currently doing a masters degree at Manhattan School of music under the tutelage of George Garzone. "Mike is a strong voice on the saxophone...come and hear him play...he is scary" George Garzone. In 2006, Mike was awarded a grant from the Australian government to study with Henry Grimes, George Garzone, Joel Frahm, and to attend David Liebman’s chromatic master class. “Mike Rivett is an extremely talented jazz musician with a very solid grounding in the legacy and its implications.” - David Liebman.
Some of his current projects are: “FINK”-an international quintet-featuring musicians from Europe, Australia and the USA.
“RIVETT.CHOK.GOLBAS” an organ trio featuring Kerong Chok-organ and Jake Goldbas-drums. This band was recently featured on a NY television show on Time Warner Cable called “The Jump”.
“Peter Kronreif - WAYFARERS”- an New York-based quintet led by Austrian drummer Peter Kronreif.
Mike is also a co-founder of an underground dance music label “Primpy Records” with their first release on vinyl hitting the stores in May 2009.

Florian Höfner -
ist einer der vielversprechensten deutschen Pianisten und Komponisten der jungen Generation. Bevor er nach 2008 New York ging, hatte er sich bereits in Deutschland einen Namen gemacht und gehörte dort zu den meistbeschäftigten jungen Jazzmusikern.. Er hat bereits bei vielen namhaften CD-Produktionen mitgewirkt, darunter eine mit dem Gitarristen Kurt Rosenwinkel.
Florian war bereits auf unzähligen Konzerten in ganz Europa und außerhalb zu hören. Er arbeitet als Pianist und Komponist mit dem Quintett „Subtone“, das zu den aktivsten Gruppen der europäischen Szene gehört und bereits viele internationale Preise gewinnen konnte. Mit dieser Band trat er unter anderem bei Jazz Baltica in Salzau und beim Bohemia Jazz Fest in Tschechien auf.
Daneben ist er für weitere Bands und Musikern aktiv. Vor kurzem tourte er mit der Band Inner Shape“ und Gaststar Kurt Rosenwinkel durch Deutschland. Als Komponist und Arrangeur arbeitete er bereits fürs deutsche Bundesjazzorchester und für Till Brönner.

Linda Oh -
was born in Malaysia, raised in Western Australia and is now living in New York City. She began playing upright-bass at the W.A Academy of Performing Arts and completed her Bachelor of Music with first-class honors.
Linda was a James Morrison Scholarship finalist in 2003 and in 2004 she was a winner of the IAJE Sisters in Jazz competition. She was a recipient of the Bob Wyllie Scholarship and West Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra scholarship in 2005.
Linda received the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer’s award in 2008 performing at the Allen Room before Suzanne Vega and Judy Collins. Linda completed her Masters at the Manhattan School of Music in 2008 studying with Jay Anderson, John Riley, Phil Markowitz, Dave Liebman and Rodney Jones. She now teaches there and conducts jazz videoconference master-classes for high-schools around the US.
She is an active double bassist, electric bassist and composer, composing music for short films including the Student Academy Award nominated film “Wian Bu” about the rape of Korean comfort women in World War II. Her next film-scoring project is a documentary “An Australian Citizen’s Diary” about a Rwandan refugee now living in Perth.
Linda now lives in New-York City after completing her Masters at the Manhattan School of Music and plays upright bass and electric bass around town. She has performed with the likes of T.S Monk, Billy Kilson, Billy Childs, Nasheet Waits, Tony Gould, George Cables and Slide Hampton to name a few.
She has just recorded her piano trio and string quartet featuring Sean Wayland and is about to release her debut trio album "Entry" with Obed Calvaire and Ambrose Akinmusire.

Der gebürtige Salzburger Peter Kronreif -
entdeckte bereits im Alter von 9 Jahren das Schlagzeug für sich. Nach einigen Jahren Privatunterricht studierte er ein Semester an der Kunstuniversität Graz bei Alex Deutsch, wechselte dann an die Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität in Linz, wo er, nach Studium bei Doug Hammond, Joris Dudli und Jeff Boudreaux, 2007 den Bachelor-Abschluss mit Auszeichnung machte und zurzeit ein Masterstudium absolviert.
In den letzten Jahren entwickelte sich Peter Kronreif zu einem gefragten Sideman – Zusammenarbeit mit u.a. Harry Sokal, Martin Reiter, Matthieu Michel, Reinhard Micko, Christoph Cech, Alegre Correa, Ana Paola DaSilva, Peter O'Mara, Louie Austen und Christoph "Pepe" Auer brachten ihn auf Tour in über 20 Nationen – 2009 wurde ihm dafür der Hans-Koller-Preis als „Sideman of the Year“ verliehen.
In Wien wohnhaft verbringt Peter jedoch jährlich einige Monate in New York City, wo er Unterricht von u.a. Greg Hutchinson, Jonathan Blake und John Riley bekam, mit zahlreichen Musikern aus der Szene arbeitet und bereits einige Konzerte in Brooklyn, Manhattan und Philadelphia gab.
2009 gründete er ebenfalls in New York seine erste, eigene Band „Wayfarers“, welche 2010 bei der Release-Tour des Debut-Albums „Gloaming“ auch erstmals in Europa zu hören sein wird.
